Summer Institute 2008 FAQ

  • Can I take both the Week 1 Introduction to UbD and Week 2 Advanced Course in UbD?
Yes, although the advanced institute assumes that participants have had experience designing within the UbD framework. The emphasis in the introductory course is on the creation of UbD units. In the advanced course, that emphasis shifts toward the creation of coherent UbD-based courses.

  • How do I know if I am qualified to take Week 4 ,Train the Trainers?
To gain admission to Train the Trainer, you must first send us a unit that you have written or a unit that you have supervised. We will review your work and let you know whether you seem to be ready for this level of training. If not, we will be happy to work with you to refine your unit or build your understanding so that you might become qualified for the TtT course.

  • Are there subject specific offerings during Weeks 1 & 2?
Not this year. However, we will have arranged subject-specific groups during breakouts and we will have facilitators on hand who have experience in various subject areas.

  • Will Dr. Wiggins be presenting each week?
For all of our summer institutes, Grant Wiggins will be our lead facilitator, and he usually does most of the presenting. We also have additional facilitators on hand to allow us to work more closely with our participants.

  • Whom do I contact for help with travel arrangements?
For assistance with travel arrangements, please contact our Travel Coordinator, Barbara Durkin, at Barbara@authenticeducation.org or toll free at 877-256-7865 (pin 9812).
