 Janet Nease

For eight years, Janet Nease served as a district-level Director responsible for curriculum development, Title I, Title III and Title IV federal programs, student health, before/after school programming, early childhood programming, student guidance, career and technical education, and instructional improvement. During her tenure as Director of Curriculum Development, she also consulted with schools and districts to build teachers' conceptual understanding of UbD™ and its practical application to specific local situations. Additionally, during her eight years as an assistant principal and principal, she provided leadership in new teacher support, content area supervision, and school safety. As a grant director, Janet worked with various presidential libraries to develop archival resources as curricular support. Janet also has 15 years of secondary classroom experience, during which time she also served as a teacher trainer/mentor and received recognition as District Teacher of the Year.

Outside of direct district responsibilities, Janet has served on state advisory committees charged with articulating language proficiency standards and learning goals for English language learners. Janet has also served a lengthy tenure as a member of a national advisory school safety board which afforded the opportunity for curriculum development, training, editorial chair of the Journal of School Safety, and conference planning. Her thirty two years in education have afforded her the privilege of presenting at many state and national conferences.

Janet Nease holds a B.Ed. from Kansas State University, a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Education Specialist degree in Urban Leadership from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Most recently, she earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University. She finds great satisfaction in working with districts to identify and implement a curriculum improvement plan focused on teaching and learning.
