Nicodemus Ford is a school consultant for Authentic Education and has worked successfully in the field of education for youth and urbanized communities for over ten years. He currently works as a consultant for the Innovation Zone project, the iZone, an initiative developed in partnership with the New York City Department of Education to best meet the needs, motivations and strengths of each student. He provides coaching, training and consulting services to school leadership and staff in the South Bronx and Manhattan to foster the core practices and principles of competency based instructional and curricular design.
In his hometown of Detroit, Nicodemus worked as a founding teacher of University Prep High School, where students led their learning through their interests and passions rooted in the community. His work at UPrep, led to its first graduation class where over ninety (90) percent of entering freshmen graduated four years later and over (90) percent matriculated onto post-secondary institutions.
He has presented at the the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation National Convening, Big Picture Learning Conference, Diploma Plus Initiative and provided district-wide trainings for Detroit Public Schools. In partnership with Flint Public Schools and the Charles Mott Foundation, he authored a report entitled, "A Time for Change," a community-based blueprint advocating for strategic, participatory, grass-roots school reform. He is a certified National Writing Consultant through the National Writing Project and he works as an adjunct professor at Wayne State University in Detroit teaching courses in content area literacy with pre-service science and math teachers.
