 Seonaid Davis

Seonaid Davis is the Head of Science at Havergal College and has worked for the last six years as a teacher trainer within that school. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Education from the University of Toronto in Curriculum Design. She is an experienced teacher in all levels of education (Grades 1-12), with science as a specialty.

In her capacity as teacher trainer, Seonaid has been responsible for the implementation of teaching for understanding as the umbrella curriculum initiative at the school. She has worked with colleagues in the school as well as in other schools in Ontario as a presenter and as a mentor, helping teachers increase their understanding of teaching for understanding. She is the Learning Team facilitator for two learning teams, elementary and secondary, in the area of teaching for understanding. In addition, she has written extensively for Crucible, the journal of the Science Teachers Association of Ontario, and is currently writing for Grant Wiggins' on-line journal, Big Ideas. Seonaid has given workshops and presentations to colleagues, the parent community and independent school teachers in Ontario and Switzerland.
